Employees at the local buy, sell and loan store, on Hankinson Way, held a ‘Custard Pie Throwing Tournament’ with team member Neil Earley nominating himself to take position in the line of fire.

With pyjama-clad employees handing out custard pies all day, Neil was creamed more than 50 times, raising more than £150 for charity.

Also taking place was a raffle, giving local shoppers the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes including a Nintendo Wii. The lucky winners on the day were Maureen Boyd, Derek Ackerley and Vic Doran, all from Salford.

Michelle Clayton, store manager at Cash Generator Salford, comments: “The whole team was keen to raise money for Make-A-Wish and we decided that our birthday would be a great opportunity to do something fun.

“We hope the money raised from the custard pie throwing and the raffle will go towards granting magical wishes to a child with a life-threatening illness, giving them a once in a lifetime experience this year.”

Rebecca Jones, Corporate Account Manager at Make-A-Wish, says: “We are delighted with the team at Cash Generator in Salford for hosting a fantastic day. The money raised will help us make a poorly child’s wish come true.”

Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK has a very simple objective – to grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illness. The charity was founded in the UK in 1986 and since then has granted over 5600 wishes.

Cash Generator in Salford is located at 3 Hankinson Way. The store will continue to keep giving throughout 2010, taking part in a number of campaigns to raise money for Make-A-Wish, helping other Cash Generator stores reach its national target of £100,000 for the children’s charity.
