With the aim of raising £10,000 for the company’s adopted charity, Julian Urry, from Pickmere, with no support vehicle and carrying their kit every step of the way, will cycle 330 miles through Belgium and Holland in just four days.
Joined by Mark Bringloe, from Bolton and Jeff Jones, from Horwich, Julian’s charity cycle will start on Tuesday 29 June.
Julian says: “Cash Generator’s adopted charity for the last two years is Make-A-Wish, a national charity that grants magical wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
“I want to raise £10,000 personally for the charity and following a successful 100 mile cycle last year, decided to make this year’s challenge even tougher. I’ve been training hard since February in preparation for the cycle and cannot wait to get going.”
Julian’s cycle will officially launch Tour de Cash Generator, a 1000 mile annual relay-style charity cycle that takes place in September, with employees from the company’s 117 stores taking part all across the UK.
Julian concludes: “We launched Tour de Cash Generator last year and it was a resounding success. This year it will be bigger and better, and I am happy to lead from the top with my own 330 mile cycle. It is a great way to spur on employees ahead of their cycle in September, from which we hope to reach our collective target of £100,000.”
A truly worthwhile cause, Make-A-Wish aims to grant magical wishes to children and young people aged between three and 17 who have been affected by life-threatening illness. In 2009 alone, more than 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish.
